The evolving diplomatic and economic relationship between Vietnam and Qatar was underscored during Vietnam’s National Day celebration in Doha. This event not only marked the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day but also highlighted the nations’ strengthened cooperation, with a focus on peace, dialogue, and international collaboration.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, played a central role in the celebration, emphasizing the positive trajectory of Vietnam’s development and its expanding international relationships, particularly with Qatar. The event gathered senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, showcasing the two countries’ commitment to furthering bilateral ties.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, Vietnam and Qatar have broadened their cooperation across a variety of sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and telecommunications. This growth is reflected in their economic interactions, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025, signaling increasing business engagement and investment opportunities.

High-level exchanges between the countries have been a cornerstone of their relationship. Notably, Qatar’s prime minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, reinforcing mutual interest in enhancing economic partnerships. Both countries are keen to continue these exchanges to foster deeper collaboration across multiple sectors.

The Vietnamese National Day event in Doha served as a platform to celebrate past achievements and to set the stage for future endeavors. As Vietnam and Qatar continue on this path of strengthened relations, their focus remains on leveraging their partnership to address global challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
