Putin: SCO Summit Key to Forging a ‘Fairer Multipolar World Order’

Vladimir Putin has articulated his vision for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, expressing hope that it will be instrumental in “shaping a fairer multipolar world order.” The Russian President believes the summit in Tianjin provides a platform for like-minded nations to strengthen their collective response to global challenges and threats.

According to Putin, the SCO’s strength lies in its shared values, which promote a global system grounded in international law and coordinated by the United Nations. He envisions the creation of a stable and indivisible security architecture across Eurasia, achieved through close cooperation among SCO member states. This vision stands in contrast to a unipolar world dominated by a single power.

Central to this vision is the robust partnership between Russia and China. Their shared stance against what they term “discriminatory sanctions” and their joint efforts to promote a more balanced global economic system are foundational to the SCO’s evolving role. Putin emphasized their united front in strengthening the BRICS bloc to tackle pressing global issues.

The summit will bring together a significant assembly of global leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This gathering underscores the growing influence of the SCO as a forum for shaping a new era of international relations.
