Hollywood Blockbusters Toppled by K-Pop Anime Phenomenon

by admin477351

In a stunning upset, a new animated film has claimed the title of Netflix’s most-watched movie ever. “KPop Demon Hunters” has officially unseated the Dwayne Johnson-led “Red Notice,” attracting more viewers in its initial three-month window than any other film on the service.

The anime musical, which tells the story of a K-pop group that secretly hunts demons, registered an incredible 236 million views. This figure surpasses not only “Red Notice” (231 million) but also other major Hollywood productions like “Don’t Look Up” and “Bird Box,” proving that star power is no longer the only path to the top of the streaming charts.

Despite its victory in viewership, the film’s shorter 100-minute runtime means it has accumulated fewer total watch hours than some of its rivals. Its 23 billion minutes watched is an impressive feat but remains behind the 27 billion minutes of “Red Notice” and the 25 billion of “Don’t Look Up.”

The success of “KPop Demon Hunters” extends beyond the screen, with its soundtrack dominating the Billboard charts and earning widespread critical acclaim. The blend of vibrant animation, catchy music, and a clever storyline has created a global sensation, with a sequel already greenlit by Netflix.
