The 41st Meeting of the Directors General of Passports of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) recently took place at the GCC General Secretariat’s headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with Qatar actively participating. The Qatari delegation was headed by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Ateeq Al Dosari, the Director General of Passports, who joined officials from other GCC member states to deliberate on key issues related to passport operations.
This meeting served as a platform for the representatives to explore strategies for modernizing passport systems, enhancing public service delivery, and bolstering coordination and integration among the member countries. The focus was on identifying best practices that could streamline operations and improve the overall efficiency of passport and border management services across the region.
During the discussions, various proposals were put forward, aiming to bring about significant improvements in how passport services are managed. The members considered technological advancements and collaborative approaches that could provide citizens with more streamlined and effective services, thereby enhancing the experience of travelers and residents throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
The meeting wrapped up with the adoption of a series of recommendations designed to foster deeper cooperation between the member states. These recommendations are expected to pave the way for improved collaboration in managing border controls and passport services, ensuring that the GCC can adapt to the evolving demands of international travel and security.
