In a recent meeting held in Cairo, Qatar and Egypt have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their bilateral relations and widening cooperation in several crucial sectors, including economic, investment, and labor markets. The discussions took place as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting was part of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The dialogue highlighted the robust growth in economic interactions, as trade between the two nations surged by 80 percent in 2025. Both sides acknowledged the significant expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, particularly noting a project focused on producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This project is a testament to the enduring and growing economic partnership between the two countries.
Aside from economic matters, the meeting also addressed labor and consular cooperation, as well as regional developments. There was a mutual understanding of the need to reduce regional tensions and support stability. Both countries emphasized their commitment to maintaining coordination on matters concerning Gaza and emphasized their support for diplomatic resolutions to regional conflicts.
Furthermore, Qatar and Egypt underscored the critical importance of maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. These elements are vital for protecting international trade routes and ensuring regional stability, a priority for both nations.
